Removing Old Wipers - Customs by Ripper

It seems that some people have no idea how to remove wipers on vehicles that don't have bolt-on wipers.

To be honest, it's fairly easy. They even make a special tool for it. Here's the secret:
Older Wipers
Right under the "cap" at the end where the arrow is pointing is a small retainer clip. The special tool hooks this clip and pulls it out from under the splined shaft for the wipers. You may need a little persuasion to get the arms off, they have been on there a long time....

Some vehicles have a clip on the side that pulls out. You lift the arm away from the glass, then the clip slides easier (sometimes, a small screwdriver is all you need). This also locks the arm in the "open" position. A little wiggle on the long end and the arm usually pops off.

If the arms are bolted on, they usually hide the attachment parts under a plastic or rubber cap, which can easily be pried up or off to access the nut holding the arm on.

Also in this picture, this is from a Chevy G-Series Van. The window washer hoses hook to the wiper arms in the area between the 2 red lines. You can see the port in the picture.
