Pressure Testing Gas Tanks - Customs by Ripper

How to Pressure Test your Gas Tank:

  • Plug every hole securely.
  • Use one outlet (crossover tube, vent, petcock).
  • Connect an air hose to that outlet.
  • Use an air source with a pressure gauge and a valve.
  • Hold the tank under water.
  • Apply no more than 5 lbs of pressure to the tank.
  • Inspect tank for leaks. Pay close attention to the welds, seams, etc.

If you find a leak, have it welded. DO NOT trust tank liners to fix poor welds.
