This guitar was another victim of Hurricane Sandy. The body was split into pieces. The neck had been broken previously and it was apart, waiting for me to get to it. When I bought this guitar in 1977, I was told it was an original 1957 Stratocaster body. It had the mint green 9 hole pickguard that was right for that year. Aside from that, I cannot verify any dates. It was a natural body with a maple neck that was cracked. I bought a replacement neck (the crack ran the length of the neck and it was split pretty badly) and played this guitar for decades like that. After Sandy, I had to dry this body out. I used heat and time. I dried it for over 2 years. I glued the pieces back together and filled in some small cracks with wood filler. Since this "original" guitar was modded back before I got it (routed for a humbucker in the bridge position) and then modded some more when I got it (I installed an MXR Distortion in the spring cavity and added a battery box for it on the back. A newer, more state of the art box can be seen in some of the pictures]), I decided to go with active pickups (like I said, I already had a hole for the battery)...
