1991 Custom Chevy Van

The van here is pretty much as I got it. I painted the grille and I fixed a huge dent in the rear quarter, behind the window, plus I changed the rear bumper, but the trailer took care of that real quick. Never let someone back up your vehicle while hooked to a trailer, if they don't know how to do it. Here is the dent that was there when I bought the van, partially knocked back out. This panel was completely pushed in:

The rest wasn't bad at all at the time:

I practiced "True Flames" on the back doors. This was my first ever attempt at it. I have gotten much better at it. The hood was done in about a half hour. I was working on a project that had me locked up, so I quickly painted and airbrushed the hood to get me past the "artist's block":

The van is used and abused daily, so it gets its share of bumps and bruises

Door poppers:

I started installing the automatic door poppers. These were wired into the alarm/remote start system that is already installed and will be hidden by the custom door panels. I also added the 1999 S-10 window and door lock switches and their mounting panel to the door.

I also plan to somehow disable the door popper button while the van is in motion. This van is too old to have door locks that activate on movement, plus as a GM vehicle, there is no electric neutral safety switch I could use. I will figure it out, however. For now, all I need to do is hit the door lock button and the popper won't open the door, even though it does activate. It is hooked to the outside handle system.

I got hit!!

The following is thanks to a local woman who was texting with her daughter, and made a left directly into the side of my van. I don't condone it, but I can believe when they say "I didn't see you" when I'm on my bike. How do you not see 6,000lbs of metal coming straight at you?

I started the bodywork. This end of the wheelwell was folded under when she knocked the wheel off the van:

The other side had some old damage too:

The running board has to go too, but there's no rush.

FIGHT CISPA

CISPA is a bill that would allow the government to track your internet use without probable cause or a warrant. Congress passed it while everyone was distracted by the recent events in Boston and Texas.
