This Custom Painted 2000 Panzer won First Place in it's class at the 39th Annual Long Island Custom Car and Bike Show at the
Nassau Coliseum, Thanksgiving Weekend.

This is a 2000 Panzer, a custom motorcycle featuring a Softail style frame with a Panhead style engine. There were not many of these built. Each one is hand built. This one was built by Paughco, I was told, with the engine being assembled by Accurate Engineering. I'm not sure about the rest of them, they varied, supposedly. Some were built by the California Motorcycle Company (later to build yet another reincarnation of the "Indian" motorcycle), some were built by other companies. I have also been told, but cannot substantiate, that ALL of these bikes were built by Panzer themselves. I know the history of this particular bike and the original owner says he bought it directly from the manufacturer, which in this case, was Paughco. The engine is a 96" S&S Panhead and the transmission is a Revtech 5 speed. I got the bike with two sets of stock style Flat Side tanks. One was the original Panzer set (badly dented), the other set was from a Harley Davidson Heritage Softail. I originally decided a third set was the set to be used, This set is a set of stretched Flat sides with aircraft filler caps Frenched into the top of each tank. Then, yet another set of tanks was found. This set is also a set of stretched tanks, but with the stock style twist-in caps. These were the final choice seen painted below. The reason is they fit against the seat almost perfectly and there was no bodywork needed to get them in paint. The original (third) choice would need a ton of work to look as good. The rear fender is also totally custom. It was a strut-less design, with some really poor design flaws, style-wise. I decided I did not like the taillight or the fact that the license plate was going to stick up like a huge sail off the back of the bike, or the huge welded-on side plates that made it look like it had struts afterall, so I made it into something different. The flat taillight/license plate bracket was located on eBay for a very good price... I then molded it into the fender, molded in the side plates and molded the fender to follow the shape of the seat...

Here is the bike as I got it, for the most part:
